The first National Traffic Exchange Center in the Republic of Kazakhstan operates in Almaty since October 2007. The National Traffic Exchange Center was established for implementation of the instructions provided by the Head of the State and Government on further development of the local Internet-services market. For management of the activities of the Center a legal entity in the form of Association has been established.
The Center provides the local Internet-services providers with the possibility to exchange Kazakhstan traffic without international Internet-channels use according to the uniform rules and connection conditions under the standard peering agreements.
Currently, peering interaction among the networks of JSC “Kazakhtelecom”, JSC “Nursat”, LLP “Intelsoft” and JSC“ASTEL” is implemented. The rate of internet-traffic exchange reaches 15 megabit/second.
- Owing to the new members joined the Association “Internet-Traffic Exchange Center”, the traffic cost price has decreased and as a result the rates for the subscribers also went down, - emphasized the Director of the Association Erlen Akhmetov. - In 2008 it was decided to cancel the joining contributions for the operators wishing to join the Center. Besides due to optimization of the Center’s work the monthly membership fee for the members has materially decreased. Also in the first quarter of 2009 two more communication operators are expected to join the Center.

ASTEL Joined the National Center of Internet-Traffic Exchange.
